Communicate Truth With Love and Know When to Stop

The person in front of you is more important than the argument happening between you. Speak clearly, but do not embarrass, mock, or overwhelm them. Listen carefully. Admit what you do not know. Answer the question they actually asked.

Communicating with love does not mean watering down the truth. It means telling the truth with patience, humility, and genuine concern for the person hearing it.

You should also know when to stop. End the conversation when it becomes nothing but insults, repeated assertions, constant goalpost-moving, or an endless attempt to have the last word. Sometimes the wisest response is, “I appreciate the conversation. I think we have reached the point where continuing would not be helpful.”
