PART 2: Learn the Most Common Logical Fallacies

Now that you know the basic laws of logic, it's time to learn how people break them.

A logical fallacy is simply an error in reasoning. It doesn't necessarily mean the conclusion is false. It means the argument used to reach that conclusion is flawed.

Think of the laws of logic as the rules of the road. Logical fallacies are the common ways people drive off the road.

The reason this matters is because once you learn to recognize these patterns, you'll start seeing them everywhere. You'll notice them in debates, political discussions, social media, advertisements, news articles, and yes, even in sermons.

Don't make the mistake of thinking only atheists use fallacies. Christians commit them too. Our goal isn't to collect mistakes so we can embarrass people. Our goal is to recognize faulty reasoning, avoid making those same mistakes ourselves, and help others think more clearly.

We'll start with one of the most common fallacies you'll ever encounter: the Straw Man.
